SEOUL, Mar. 21 (Yonhap) -- South Korean screenwriter Han Jin-won, who earned critical appraisal and recognition including an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay at the 92nd Academy Awards for writing the script for the mega-hit film “Parasite,” will take the helm of TVING’s upcoming original series.
Han will make his debut as a director by producing a TVING original series “Running Mate,” which will be based on the script Han wrote.
“Running Mate” will follow the story of a model student who participates in the election of the student board president as a running mate to change his reputation but then unexpectedly ends up becoming the core member of the election.
The series will star budding actors and actresses, including Yoon Hyun-soo, Lee Jung-sik, Choi Woo-sung, Hong Hwa-yeon, Lee Bong-joon, and Kim Ji-woo.
“We hope to cheer viewers to take the courage to summon the past, reflect on the past, or head towards the future with this roller-coaster-like story of an ordinary boy that spans over a month,” said the production crew.
The upcoming series will be unveiled sometime next year.
