SEOUL, Nov. 16 (Yonhap) —BTS is nominated in three different categories for the Grammy Awards held next year.
The music industry was intrigued when BTS was nominated for multiple awards for the first time in K-pop history for the "Grammy Awards," the United States' biggest pop music awards.
BTS was nominated for the "Best Pop Duo Group Performance" and the "Best Music Video" at the nomination presentation event that was held today.
The question was whether BTS could include the nomination of Coldplay's 9th album, "Music of the Sphere," on which they collaborated, in their count nomination as well.
"Album Of The Year" is an award given to the album with the best overall accomplishment from the performer, album producer, engineer, song-writer, and others.
According to the Associated Press, the Grammy changed its rules so that all featured artists, songwriters, producers, and engineers who worked on albums nominated for "Album of the Year" last year were also nominated.
It is said on the Grammy's official website that featured artists are qualified for the "Album of the Year."
Accordingly, in addition to Coldplay, the album's owner, BTS, who took part in the album "My Universe," is also qualified for the "Album of the Year" nomination. BTS sang "My Universe" with Coldplay, and members RM, Suga, and J-Hope also participated in producing the song.
"Album of the Year" is one of the four main Grammy Awards, called the "General Fields," along with "Record of the Year," "Song of the Year," and "Best New Artist," which is the greatest honor for pop artists.
If Coldplay succeeds in winning the award, BTS will also be recorded as one of the winners.
