SEOUL, Feb. 28 (Yonhap) -- K-pop superband BTS' "Dynamite” has been certified as “diamond,” which is given to the songs with over 500 million streams, by the Recording Industry Association of Japan.
“Dynamite” has received a “diamond” certification last month, according to the list announced by the Recording Industry Association of Japan on Feb. 28.
The Recording Industry Association of Japan certifies songs with over 30 million streams as silver, 50 million as gold, 100 million as platinum, and 500 million as diamond.
BTS' smash hit song "Dynamite" set a new record through this certification.
The song, which was released on Aug. 21, 2020, was certified as "diamond" on Jan. 31, 529 days after its release. It is the shortest period since April, 2020, when the association started certifying the streaming category.
The agency Big Hit Music said, "BTS has set a milestone in receiving the “diamond” certification in the shortest period of time with “Dynamite,’” adding, "The group is the first foreign artist to be certified as “diamond' in the streaming category.”
BTS has been certified by the association with several hit songs.
Earlier, BTS received a “platinum” certification for the English single “Butter,” which was released in May, 2021, as well as for “Film Out” and “Lights” last month.
Moreover, the song was certified in categories of not only streaming but also album and download.
