SEOUL, Jan. 6 (Yonhap) -- BTS has no choice but to cancel plans after the Grammy Awards ceremony is postponed due to the spread of the Omicron variant.

The group's plan to take the flight to the US and attend the Grammys ceremony was canceled due to the postponement of the awards show, according to the music industry, Thursday.

BTS earned a nomination from this year's Grammy Awards for the “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” for the second consecutive year.

The group is taking an extended period of rest since the Los Angeles concert last month and is spending time with their families during the year-end and New Year holidays.

However, the Recording Academy, which organizes the Grammy Awards, canceled the show scheduled for 10 a.m. (KST) on Feb. 1, causing interruptions in the groups’ plans.

There is interest in how long the superband will be away on the vacation.

The group’s agency Big Hit Music said that the member’s schedules have to be discussed and nothing has been decided since the cancellation was announced yesterday.

BTS member V also replied on the fan community Weverse, saying “I want to rest more,” when asked by an ARMY (BTS fan) asked how long they were going to rest.

Following the ceremony’s postponement, the next official schedule of the supergroup is the Seoul Concert in March.

Considering the superband’s popularity, the concert is likely to be held in Seoul Jamsil Main Stadium, where the group live-streamed their performance in Oct. 2021. However, the stadium is only limited to 4000 audiences currently, which is only one-tenth of the people available at the concert hall.

Big Hit Music is determined about the first offline concert in Korea which will be held after two years and five months since Oct. 2019.

“We have to hold the concert,” said a spokesman from the agency.

BTS’ Jin also stated, “I want to hold another concert in Korea, and I have plans,” in a press conference held last year November following the LA concert.

If BTS holds an offline concert with 4,000 people per episode, a "booking competition" will likely be expected. The group’s last Los Angeles concert in the U.S. also sold out at high speed with more than 50,000 tickets per episode and 214,000 in total.

The concert will live stream all or some episodes of the concert just as the Los Angeles show.
