'Dark Nuns' to Launch January, Starring Song Hye-Kyo, Jeon Do-yeon

SEOUL, Nov. 4 (Yonhap) -- Song Hye-kyo and Jeon Yeo-been will star in the occult film "Dark Nuns," set to premiere next year, just before the Lunar New Year holiday, distributor said on Monday.

 

The new film, set to launch on January 24, 2025, is a sequel to the 2015 hit film "The Priests," which drew over 5.44 million viewers, according to local film distributor NEW. 

 

"Dark Nuns" centers on nuns who risk everything to perform a forbidden ritual to save a young boy possessed by a powerful demon. Song Hye-kyo will portray Sister Yunia, a character determined to prepare the ritual at any cost, while Jeon Yeo-been takes on the role of Sister Michaela, Yunia’s devoted assistant. 

 

The film Song Hye-kyo’s return to Korean cinema after nearly a decade since her 2014 film "My Brilliant Life," in which she starred alongside Kang Dong-won.

 

The film is directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae, known for "The Troubleshooter (2010)" and "Count (2023)."
