SEOUL, July 18 (Yonhap) -- The Gyeongju National Museum announced Friday that its Silla Millennium Library will now be open to the public on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
The Silla Millennium Library is located within the Gyeongju National Museum. Originally used as a storage facility, the building was remodeled in 2022 into a library specializing in books on the history and culture of the Silla Kingdom and the Gyeongju region.
Last year, the library received the 2024 International Architecture Awards, co-hosted by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Previously, the library operated only on weekdays, but starting July 19, it will open twice a month on Saturdays as well.

In connection with the museum’s ongoing special exhibition, "Crafting a Blue World: Goryeo Shaped Celadon," the library is also showcasing books that highlight the aesthetics and historical flow of Korean ceramic art.
Yoon Sang-deok, director of the Gyeongju National Museum, stated, "We hope visitors will deepen their understanding of Silla’s history and culture while enjoying the museum as a more comfortable and familiar space."
