SEOUL September 21 (Yonhap) -- In France, “Project Wolf Hunting” received public viewing rate of PG-12. I think audience are more acceptable to greater details and expressions.

Director Kim Hong-sun participated in an interview related to “Project Wolf Hunting” which premiered on Wednesday and stated “There will be people who dislike the movie and like the movie despite of what kind of movie I produce, however I am certain that there will be greater amount of people who enjoy and like ‘Project Wolf Hunting’.”

Throughout the interview, director stated that from the beginning of the planning stage he took over the top media into consideration. Through the wide spread of the over the top media, audiences are exposed to various global contents, which eventually led to the increased the limit of acceptable levels. “Nowadays, in order for people to visit the theater to see the movies, it needs to differentiate themselves from the contents provided by over the top media.” adding “Including the SF genre, I tried my best to provide the unique experience where one cannot find through most of the over the top contents.” described director Kim Hong-sun throughout the interview.

“Project Wolf Hunting” directed by Kim Hong-sun who wanted audiences to experience something unique, is filled with violence and blood spreading scenes. Interestingly the current version excludes some of violent scenes. The one showcased throughout the Toronto International Film Festival included all the scenes that were deleted from the final version. “In order to dodge the restricted showing rate, I have cut out a lot of scenes.” described the director throughout the interview.

“If someone cuts open an artery or a vein the blood floods out like a waterfall, I wanted to describe the scene as realistic as possible.” addressed director Kim Hong sun. According to the director, he focused on how the blood splashes, or it splatters out when a character gets shot and how a body reacts to getting hit buy the bullet. Therefore, I have created a special pump. I took into consideration of director Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained.”

The leader figure of the antagonist group acted by South Korean actor Seo In-guk kills a police officer stationed within the convoy ship, then affronts the dead body after stripping it naked. This action shows another way of putting greater emphasize in stimulation. “That is a very important scene because after releasing his anger, he returns back to his normal form. Therefore it’s a very important scene.” addressed the director.

Director Kim Hong-sun did not just pursuit on including grotesque and violent scenes, with introducing the Alpha, a transcendental character, and through the fight scene director asks a question of the origin of the violence.

“When I first wrote the scenario of ‘Project Wolf Hunting’ it felt like an old fashion crime movie, it felt like a remake of a ‘Con Air’ with a background change from the airplane to a boat. In order to draw audience’s reaction, I needed something with more impact. Throughout the movie I continuously ask the question of where the origin of violence lies. I wanted the audience to say we should not repeat the sad and unfortunate history.” stated director Kim Hong-sun throughout the interview.

Director Kim Hong-sun who debuted with South Korean block buster movie Traffickers, in 2012, signed a contract with a Hollywood agency William Morris Endeavor, which is known for its directors and actors such as Quentin Tarantino, Ridley Scott, Park Chan-wook, Bong Joon-ho and actor Lee Byung-hun and more.

As far as director Kim Hong-sun’s future projects go, he stated “Since William Morris Endeavor has numerous foreign actors, I throughout it would be an interesting to cast foreign actors for the scripts I have written.” adding “However, my next project will be with Korean actors, and Korean production company.”
