SEOUL, May 28 (Yonhap) -- "You won't be able to stop watching after the first two episodes. I guarantee it," actor Song Seung-heon declared during the online production presentation for tvN's drama 'Player 2: The War of the Players' (hereinafter 'Player 2') on the 28th.
He expressed his confidence that the second season would be even more entertaining than the first.
Set to premiere on June 3, 'Player 2' features a team of highly skilled individuals including a genius con artist, a top hacker, an exceptional driver, and a natural-born fighter, all banding together for a thrilling revenge plot.
The first season aired on OCN in 2018 and was met with considerable popularity.
Song Seung-heon reprises his role as Kang Ha-ri, a brilliant con artist and mastermind who orchestrates the group's operations.
He highlighted the differences between the two seasons: "In the first season, Kang Ha-ri sought to avenge his father's wrongful death by targeting the wealthy and powerful. In season two, the focus shifts to the team's quest for revenge beyond monetary gain."
The second season is set four years after the events of the first, showcasing the deepened camaraderie among the 'Players' who have become like family after enduring numerous crises together.
Song Seung-heon mentioned, "There aren’t many laugh-out-loud moments in the script, but the chemistry among the cast is so good that we joked about continuing the series to season 10. I believe we can convey this atmosphere well in the drama."
"Each character has their own backstory and pain. Individually, they may seem lacking, but together, their synergy brings about a remarkable sense of catharsis."

Joining the cast in season two is Oh Yeon-seo, who plays Jung Soo-min, a meticulous strategist with a unique charisma. Oh Yeon-seo described her role as "the most glamorous character I've ever played," and likened it to a 'Bond girl,' aiming to bring a different vibe to each scene.
She added, "The drama includes serious incidents, but also features humorous moments to lighten the tension. It’s comedic but not entirely lighthearted."
The cast also includes Lee Si-eon and Tae Won-seok reprising their roles as the hacker and fighter, respectively, and Jang Gyu-ri portraying Cha Jae-yi, a skilled driver.
Director So Jae-hyun shared, "Given the popularity of the first season, there was some pressure, but we’ve expanded the scale and paid more attention to each character... We’ve created something that fits the grand scope of tvN, so please look forward to it. (laughs)"
