SEOUL, July 4 (Yonhap) -- As musical actress Cha Ji-yeon tested positive for COVID-19, the showcase of "Gwanghwamun Sonata" and the musical "Red Book" has been canceled.

"The online showcase was canceled due to the cast's confirmation of COVID-19," said Sam Company, a producer of "Gwanghwamun Sonata" on Sunday. "We will actively cooperate in quarantine management by complying with the health authorities' guidelines."

"Gwanghwamun Sonata" was scheduled for a production presentation on Saturday. Actor Sung-kyu of boy group Infinite was previously confirmed to be a COVID-19 patient, so the company tried to hold a showcase without Sung-kyu, but ultimately decided to cancel the event as Cha Ji-yeon was also tested positive.

The musical "Red Book," starring Cha Ji-yeon, was also canceled on the 4th.

"The actors, staff, and all related personnel who had direct contact were immediately notified and will conduct the COVID-19 tests," the production team of Red Book said on social networking services. "According to the results of the tests, the performance schedule will be announced again."

The news of Cha Ji-yeon's COVID-19 confirmation was reported through her agency, C-Jes Entertainment.

The agency said, "Actress Cha Ji-yeon was notified to have been tested positive for COVID-19 this morning. She will follow the quarantine guideline and her families, staff and employees who have overlapping routes or been in contact will also be tested soon.

Cha Ji-yeon was also preparing to appear in the Netflix drama "The Bride of Black."
