SEOUL, Apr. 26 (Yonhap) -- A documentary called "Haenyeo's (woman divers) Table" will be produced, highlighting the traditional foods that Jeju haenyeo encounter in their daily life including the "mom-guk (gulfweed soup)" and "mul-hoe (Korean dish of sliced raw fish mixed with spiced-dressing materials and water)."


Jeju Island announced on the 26th that it would focus on the culture of Jeju haenyeo, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and also record the original recipes for haenyeo food.

This documentary, produced by Jeju Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation, will be a trilogy under the name of "Delicious Jeju: Haenyeo's Table," and will portray the four seasons of Jeju Haenyeo along with detailed explanation of the haenyeo's food.

In the documentary, one will be able to see the seafood fresh from the sea, and vegetables picked right from the garden. Along with that, brackens from Hallasan mountain and other natural resources will be used for their food.

The documentary is scheduled to be aired all around South Korea at the end of this year. It has been produced separately for each episode, and will also be provided to the Internet video service platforms in South Korea.
