SEOUL, May 15 (Yonhap) -- The National Museum of Korean Contemporary History said Thursday it will host a monthly talk concert series titled “Modern Cities Chronicle” at its third-floor multipurpose hall through July, held on the last Friday of each month.

The program, organized in celebration of the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule, will examine the historical evolution of Korean cities in the post-liberation era.

The first event, scheduled for 2 p.m. on May 30, will highlight the city of Busan and explore its transformation following Korea’s liberation in 1945, focusing on U.S. military forces entering via Busan Port, returning Koreans, and Japanese nationals departing the country.

Subsequent sessions in June and July will center on the cities of Daejeon and Daegu, as well as Pyongyang and Kaesong.

“We hope this series will offer vivid insights into how cities evolved during Korea’s tumultuous post-liberation period and deepen the public’s understanding of modern Korean history,” said Han Soo, the museum’s director.

Participation can be reserved via the museum’s official website starting at 10 a.m. on May 19.
