SEOUL, July 16 (Yonhap) -- In a week since its release, 1.97 million copies of BTS's Single CD including 'Butter' and their new song 'Permission to Dance' were sold.
According to the 16th Hanteo Chart, an ranking site, BTS single CD 'Butter', issued on the 9th of this month, recorded a total of 1,975,364 copies sold until the day before its release. This is the largest figure in initial weeks among the albums came out this year.
With this, BTS swept the 1st to 4th places in sales in the first week of release.
Along with the 4th regular album 'Map of the Soul: 7' (3.7 million copies) released in February last year, the mini-album 'BE' (2.7 million copies) in November last year, and another mini-album 'Map of the Soul:, the single CD 'Butter' is in 4th place after The Soul: Persona (2.13 million copies).
In particular, what is noteworthy about this recent record is that it is a single album with only four tracks, including 'Butter', 'Permission to Dance', and instrumental versions of two songs.
'Butter', which was first came out as a digital single on May 21, ranked first place on the US Billboard's main single chart, the Hot 100 on release day and set a record for securing its place for seven weeks straight. It also ranked as the most downloaded song in the United States in the first half of this year.
