SEOUL, Jan. 30 (Yonhap) -- “IDOL,” released by K-pop sensation BTS in August of 2018, has been certified as “Platinum” by the Recording Industry Association of Japan, the band’s agency Big Hit Music announced Monday.

Platinum certification is bestowed by the Association to songs that have accumulated more than 100 million views. With “IDOL” added to its list, the mega-hit South Korean group now has a total of 12 Japanese platinum-certified songs, including “IDOL,” “DNA,” “Your eyes tell,” and “FAKE LOVE.”

“Dynamite,” another smash-hit track of BTS, has also been certified as “Diamond,” which is a title given to songs with more than 500 million streams. Meanwhile, BTS also set a record of surpassing 3 million points for the first time in the history of the Oricon Chart’s “Total Single Ranking” with the band’s single “Butter.” As for the cumulative point of the chart, “Butter” is ranked as the all-time first, with “Dynamite” ranked as No.3.

The Oricon Singles Chart, the Japanese music industry-standard singles popularity chart issued daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly by Oricon, aggregates points by combining the number of digital downloads and the number of streams per week.
