The character Eun-ha lives a life far apart from other ordinary peers on their twenties. What she does is a task of "special delivery,” which helps her make 10 million won just by performing a task. The business partner, Baek Sa-jang(Kim Eui-sung), passes down the work, and all she has to do is to safely carry the goods or people to their destinations without asking. Despite the risk that is followed by the good income, Eun-ha never left a criminal record, thanks to her outstanding driving skills.
However, things go wrong as she is in charge of taking the rich, who tries to stow away, to the harbor at Pyeongtaek. The father Doo-sik(Yeon Woo-jin) does not appear at the appointed time but only his young son Seo-won(Jung Hyun-jun) knocks on the car door anxiously. The chase begins the moment Eun-ha gets him in the car.
Kyung-pil(Song Sae-byeok), who is currently a police officer, is the person who runs after them. Aiming at the bank security key that Seo-won has, he drives Eun-ha to a suspect of murder and kidnapping, and starts to track her down with other police and gangsters. To make matters worse, even Mi-young(Yeom Hye-ran), the agent of the National Intelligence Service, joins the chase.
It is considered novel to watch some scenes of freely changing gears and beating many cars at once. However, you would be disappointed if you have expected some series of rhythmic and unique car chase scenes as seen in the Hollywood movie “Baby Driver.” This is because in “Special Delivery,” unlike the title of the movie, car chase scenes do not take up a great part of the movie.
Instead, the narratives and action scenes fill the gap. The narratives where Eun-ha and Seo-won gradually became close and developed into a relationship that protects each other, and the scene that shows the hidden pain embedded in Eun-ha have greatly added stories to the movie. The scene of grabbing an awl, which is used to steal a car, and killing villains at once relieves the anxiety of the audience. Park So-dam's first action scene since her debut is likely to meet the director's expectation as “He gave the scenario to Park So-dam as soon as he finished writing it.”
The movie has drawn attention of the viewers from around the world by receiving an official invitation to the International Film Festival Rotterdam(IFFR) and starting presales in 47 countries.
To be released on Jan. 12. 108 minutes. A 15 rated movie
