SEOUL, August 30 (Yonhap) -- “I filmed thinking ‘Comedy is hard.’ Although it’s always one thing after another, it was a work that had lots of homework.”

Actor Song Sae-byeok expressed his feelings about returning to a comedy movie after a long time at the press conference for the movie “Come Back Home,” held at Seoul Lotte Cinema on Tuesday.

“Come Back Home,” to be released on Oct. 5, unfolds as an unknown comedian Ki-se (Song Sae-byeok) inherits a gangster leader position in his hometown, where he returned after 15 years. Ra Mi-ran takes a role as Yeong-shim, Ki-se's first love, and Lee Beom-soo as Kang Don, the second man of the organization and power broker.

Song Sae-byeok said, “I though Ki-se and I have some similarities,” adding, “I could relate a lot when he put concert posters or work park-time jobs.

Ra Mi-ran said, “Although it’s a comedy, it was sad to see Ki-see. I filmed thinking we were filming melodrama.” The actress, who starred in another comedy movie following comedy movie “Honest Candidate 2,” said, “Although their genres are the same, they are two different works,” adding, “I will give you double fun.”

Lee Beom-soo said, “Our movie is unique in that while the situation is serious, it looks funny.” He also said, “My favorite genre is comedy. I thought about ‘Who is the funniest actor in Korea,’ and I don’t want to get behind,” showing his affection for comedy.

Director Lee Yeon-woo, who directed “Running Turtle” (2009) and “Hot Young Bloods” (2013), directed the movie. He said, “I put efforts to show natural close-to-life comedy.”

Director Lee, like his previous films, filmed “Come Back Home” with a background of Chungcheong province. He said, “Somehow, I filmed ‘Part 3 of Chungcheong province,’” adding, “The movie is about hometown, and since I am from Chungcheong province, I wanted to deliver its unique sentiment and warmth more easily to audiences.”
