SEOUL, May 25 (Yonhap) --Jeonju Pungpaejigwan (Treasure No, 583), Jeonju, North Jeolla province, has reopened on the 25th after three years of dismantling and repair work.
Pungpaeji Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day from now on.
The Pungpajigwan (Jeonju Guest House) has been closed and under construction since 2018, as it was confirmed that the pillars and eaves of the annexed building, Seoikheon, came out to be damaged during the detailed safety examination.
The city completely dismantled Seoikheon and had it rebuilt in its original form.
Additionally, during the excavations of the southern and western sites, several relics that show that Pungpaejigwan was built during the Goryeo Dynasty was identified.
Pungpaejigwan was a place where the guests stayed or was entertained whenever there was a big event in the country during the Goryeo and Joseon Dynasty. Since the Joseon Dynasty, a tablet representing the King was put in the main office and people worshipped it with their palms of the hands together.
"Pungpaejigwan, which was a representative tourist destination and a meeting place for the citizens of the region has returned to the citizens' arms," said an official from Jeonju city. " We will thoroughly manage it so that it can be left as a valuable cultural asset for the future generations."
