SEOUL, June 7 (Yonhap) -- Tving’s original series “Yumi’s Cells,” which was loved by the audience for its combination of live-action and animation, will return with a second season.

When asked about the charm of the second season, director Lee Sang-yeob said in an online press conference on Tuesday, “There are a lot of heart-fluttering scenes that will make viewers lose their mind.”

“Yumi’s Cells,” based on author Lee Dong-gun’s namesake webtoon, is a drama that depicts the daily life and love story of an ordinary businesswoman Yumi (Kim Go-eun) from the perspective of the cells in her mind.

The cells of Yumi's emotions and instincts are represented by 3D animation. The first season depicted the breakup with boyfriend Ku Woong (Ahn Bo-hyun) and the second season will show the new romance with Bobby (Park Jin-young).

Director Lee said, “Bobby is so attractive that I wonder if there is such a sweet man in the world," adding, "Yumi and Bobby's romance went beyond just excitement and drew stories of each other growing up."

The director also said that there will be new cells that will appear for the first time, expanding the animation world.

Lee said, “Bobby’s love cell with a heart bandana will appear, and Bobby’s garden (where his cells live) will be expressed differently from Yumi's cell village,” adding, "The point is that Yumi and Bobby's tongue cells appear together."

Group GOT7’s member Jinyoung who plays Bobby said, “Since Bobby comes out as a mysterious character in the original webtoon, I acted while focusing on not knowing what he was thinking." adding, "I think the evaluation of Bobby in the early and late stages of the drama will change like in the first and second half of the soccer game."

Jinyoung added, “I hope the viewers can accept Bobby as a kind character.”

Kim Go-eun, who played Yumin following the first season, hinted, “Yumi makes a courageous decision in the second season.”

Kim said, “Yumi had a dream of becoming a writer but continued to work in a company as a safe option,” adding, "In season 2, the writer's cell that was buried in season 1 will come back to life.”

Kim explained, “‘Yumi’s Cells’ is a drama that tells the stories of life,” adding, “Even though it is mainly about Yumi’s love stories and growth, each character lives their own lives and grows, loves, and hates in them.”

The leading actress added, “I wanted to engage in the character so that I felt sorry for Yumi and wanted to cheer her up whenever she had a hard time.”

Two episodes will be revealed every Friday at 4 p.m. starting from June 10.
