SEOUL, Oct. 5 (Yonhap) -- Jongno district announced on Wednesday that "2022 Jongno Hanbok Festival" will be held at Gwanghwamun Square on Oct. 8 to 9.
Fashion show, where Hanbok and traditional costumes from other countries will be shown, under the theme "Harmony of Hanbok and global culture," will take place on the first day of the event. Various clothes from each culture centers such as Germany, Poland, Nigeria, and Indonesia will also be shown. Head of Sukhbaatar District, Mongolia will also make an appearance and make the stage wearing traditional clothe.
"Hanbok" contest will take place on Oct. 9 to select participant who wears Hanbok the best. Awards and prize money will be given for each categories, kids, couple, and foreigner.
There will also be drum dance performances "Drum Fantasy" and "Ganggangsullae," performed by a group specializing in intangible cultural assets in Jeongeup and Anseong,sister cities of Jongno.
Jongno mayor Jeong Mun-won said, "We have planned a 'venue for small cultural diplomacy' which allows communication with the world through hanbok," adding, "I hope visitors enjoy the festival and make unforgettable memories."
