SEOUL, May 23 (Yonhap) -- “It’s a new album with our name, right? Starting from this, I think the seven of us will spend time together occasionally. It was a time to put the name ‘GOT7’ in our hearts once again.” (Jay B)

Group GOT7 said, “As it is a new start for GOT7, it feels like we built a new home,” at a press conference to celebrate its new mini-album release, in Gangnam District, Seoul, on the 23rd.

The new mini-album, titled the team name “GOT7,” is the group’s first album in about a year and three months since the digital single “Encore,” which was dropped in February 2021.

GOT7, a 7-member boy group that debuted in January 2014, has drawn attention at home and abroad by releasing various songs, including “Stop Stop It,” “Just right,” “If You Do,” “Hard Carry,” and “You Calling My Name.”

When the contract expired with JYP Entertainment in January 2021, the members decided not to renew the contract and looked for a new agency.

However, contrary to some concerns that team activities will not be easy, GOT7 released a new album in 15 months and came back to their fans as promised.

Jay B said, “I’m so glad that the seven of us came back altogether,” adding, “We did say that the seven of us should do this together, but even I’m thrilled that our comeback has come true.”

BamBam emphasized, “We wanted to prove that GOT7 did not disband.”

The new album consists of 6 songs including the title song “NANANA” written and composed by member Jay B, “TRUTH,” which resolves a romantic relationship with wit, “Drive Me To The Moon,” which expresses the heart of being able to do anything with fans, and "TWO," which is about wanting to forget someone you can’t forget.

The members of GOT7 participated in the lyrics and composition of the album, showing off their musical abilities.

It is said that the process of making a team album was not easy because each member pursued his career as a solo artist. Due to the COVID-19, even members in Korea were sometimes unable to meet, so they mainly communicated online.

In particular, regarding the crucial "GOT7" trademark issue, the former agency JYP Entertainment willingly transferred it, enabling team activities. In the process, leader Jay B visited the members himself and received the necessary signatures on paper.

The group expressed their determination to open the second chapter with “GOT7” as the name of the album.

"I think we brand GOT7 ourselves. I'm determined to make sure I work harder so our team doesn't get embarrassed." (Jay B)
