SEOUL, Aug. 13 (Yonhap) -- BTS's iconic hit song Spring Day has become the first single to surpass 1 billion streams on South Korea's leading music platform, Melon, according to an announcement by BigHit Music on the 13th.
Melon awards the "Billions Bronze Club" badge to artists who reach a cumulative 1 billion streams. BTS has now earned this badge with Spring Day alone.
Spring Day was released in February 2017 as the title track of BTS's album WINGS: You Never Walk Alone. The song blends Brit-rock sensibilities with electronic sounds in an alternative hip-hop style, conveying a message of hope and longing while waiting to reunite with a distant friend.
The song's poignant melody and beautiful lyrics have resonated with fans, maintaining its popularity for over seven years. As of February this year, Spring Day set a record by remaining in Melon's daily chart Top 100 for 2,738 consecutive days—a feat described by BigHit Music as the longest in Melon's history.
