Kim Jeong-hoon, the director of the movie, said during the online press conference for the film on Dec. 29, “Since the previous movie was such a hit, it would be a lie to say that I had no pressure about directing a sequel,” adding “I displayed the action scenes and adventures more realistically so that the audience can have a more immersive experience when watching the movie.”
In terms of the cast, Director Kim has mentioned, “I have casted ‘the favorites,’” adding “It feels like I have gained a thousand troops supporting me on the team.”
Han Hyo-joo, who takes the role of “Hae-rang,” the charismatic owner of the pirate ship, emphasized, “I had to show different images of myself,” adding “I focused on the sword fights, wire action, and underwater training.”
Kwon Sang-woo, who had given a first try on the historical film since the debut, transformed his image by taking the role of the villain “Bu Heung-soo.”
Director Kim has said while laughing, “I made Kwon Sang-woo play a nerd in ‘The Accidental Detective,’ so I have tried to catch some attractive and chic moments of him this time.”
Kang Ha-neul, who plays “Moo-chi,” the head of the bandits, has introduced the character as the “naughty but talented leader that comes out of nowhere.”
Lee Kwang-soo has mentioned about the character “Mak-yi,” which he played, “It was easy to play the role because the character and I were so much alike.”
