SEOUL, Nov. 25 (Yonhap) —"Metaverse Sejong Institute Campus," to help foreigners learn Korean by communicating in a place that seems like the real world, will be opened, the King Sejong Institute Foundation (chairman Lee Hae-young) announced on Friday.
 
This virtual space consists of different spots in Korea, such as Hangang Park, Gwangjang Market, Dongdaemun, Seowon Village, and more.
 
Learners will be able to sign in to the metaverse space by setting their own avatar, chat with people, and talk through video calls.

Moreover, they will be able to learn Korean used in different situations, such as exercise, shopping, and hospitals, using the AI installed on spots.
 
Based on the "Sejong Korean Conversation" class syllabus conducted by the Sejong Institute, the "Metaverse Korean Speaking Class" was also opened so that learners could intensively practice their Korean speaking.
 
In commemoration of its opening, the foundation will hold a fusion and traditional music concert at the Metaverse Sejong Institute Campus. In addition, there will be an event for teachers and learners on campus to invite their friends.
 
The demo version will be operated until the end of this year, and the official version will be launched next year.
 
Contents to experience Korean culture, such as Korea's delivery culture, introducing Korean sauna, Korean classical music games, and the traditional Korean game Yutnori, among others, will be added during the demo version period for foreign learners.

Chairman Lee Hae-young introduced, "Following the 244 offline King Sejong Institutes and the online King Sejong Institutes held in 84 countries, the Metaverse Campus will also be operated so that foreigners can learn Korean language and culture more easily."
