SEOUL, April 20 (Yonhap) -- Actor Ma Dong-seok will act as the lead role and producer for the U.S. drama "The Club," which will be a remake of the Korean drama "Trap," according to his agency BIG PUNCH ent on Tuesday.
Ma Dong-seok's Hollywood production company, Gorilla 8 Productions will produce "The Club" along with production company Starlings Television and production partner B&C Content.
"The Club" depicts a veteran detective (played by Ma Dong-seok) investigating a case on a news anchor family who were attacked by a mysterious hunter during their camping trip. As the detective finds out the background story to the incident, a series of twisted mystery unravels in front of him. Actor Ma Dong-seok's character also lost his son due to a hit-and-run incident.
The drama, which will be produced on a seasonal basis, is expected to feature an exciting mystery and intense action genres.
BIG PUNCH ent emphasized that competition between Hollywood studios and buyers arose after Jack LoGiudice, a renowned American television writer, was chosen as the show runner for "The Club."
Jack LoGuidice wrote many iconic dramas including, "The Walking Dead," "Narcos," "Sons of Anarchy," and "House of Cards." The writer joined the "The Club" after watching Ma Dong-seok's films such as "The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil."
Starlings Television is also a production company that created numerous popular works such as "Departure" and "Pandora."
