SEOUL February 20 (Yonhap) -- “I was introduced with the story of Albert Wilder Taylor’s story at the Dilkusha, former house of Alber W. Taylor and his wife at the Seoul Museum of History. And I feel happy to see it here, I feel thankful for all his work for South Korea.” Kim Kyung-suk, a visitor of the “2023 Korea National Brandup Exhibition” held by Cyber diplomatic delegation Group, VANK also known as Voluntary Agency Network of Korea and Yonhap News Agency at the underground pathway of National Museum of Korea located in Yonsang district of Seoul addressed on February 19.
Albert W. Taylor is an American business man and an on the scene reporter from AP stationed in Joseon, during the Japanese Colonial Period who helped spread the news of Korea’s independence Movement of March to foreign nations.
Visitor of the exhibition Park Hye-suk addressed “I just found out that the work of Hegue Secret Emissary Affair was featured on the front page of Netherland’s ‘Courrier De La Conference De La Paix’ from 1907” adding “Because of the hard work done by ancestors we are awarded with such convenience and the life style we maintain.”
Middle school student Kim Da-kyung from from Gwangju city, stated “I was touched to learn about Albert W. Taylor who has cared about Koreans and worked to spread the truth during the Japanese Colonial period” adding “I would like to participate in an activity where I can correct the misinterpreted facts about the history throughout the world.”
Those who have visited National Museum of Korea during the weekend also continued on through the “2023 Korea National Brandup Exhibition” and was informed of the history of Hallyu culture. Foreigners who have visited South Korea from Switzerland, Indonesia and more also walked through the exhibition with surprise in their eyes.
Some of the visitors lined up at the corner of the exhibition where anyone could pose with a trophy to look like the cover model of TIME magazine which featured K-pop sensation BTS and BLACKPINK.
An Ji-hu from Anyang city within Gyeonggi Province addressed “I feel very happy to stand on a red carpeted photo zone, it feels like I’m a K-pop star,” where as his friend Kim Ki-hwan stated “I feel like a superstar who propagates hallyu culture.”
Continuing on, docent of the exhibition, Min Jeong-in from Sungkyunkwan University stated “Before listening to the docent most of the people address hallyu star is BTS, however, towards the end of the exhibition, most of the people would address the hallyu star to be the 8 billion people throughout the world.” Adding “I was impressed when finding out the exhibition has changed the way kids think.”
Park Ki-tae the Leader of VANK addressed “After the kick off of the exhibition, 600 thousand of the audiences has visited the site and given that 60 percent of the visitors used the Museum Nadeulgil which comes down to 360 thousand of the visitors have used the facility.”
The exhibition shines light on the first foreign honorary ambassador of South Korea Dr. Homer Hulbert, freedom fighter Kim Kyo-shin, Choi Jae-hyung and various people which VANK has previously brought into light for their recognizable service to the country.
Moreover, VANK is currently hosting an event through social media.
Through this event VANK plans to shine light on those who has not been recognized but yet worth checking out after careful revision of recommendations and train them to become the next hallyu star.
One netizen recommended Hwang Ki-hwan, who was described as "Yujin Choi" in the drama "Mr. Sunshine," as a hallyu star, and introduced, "Recently, after 100 years since his death, his remains were returned to South Korea and he finally rests in peace at the Memorial."
“2023 National Brand Up Exhibition” will continue on until February 21.
