SEOUL October 19 (Yonhap) -- “2022 The 9th World Congress for Hallyu” organized by The World Association for Hallyu Studies and hosted by Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange and Yonhap News Agency, will be held at the National Library of Korea located in Seocho district, Seoul from October 20, until 21.

Under the overlaying theme of “New Momentum For Hallyu 5.0” the 9th world congress for hallyu will be hosted under 12 different segments with 17 of participants including researchers, and those from the field of culture related industry where they will examine the difference between the past and the present of Hallyu.

Award winning sociologist Dr. Sam Richards from Penn State University will address on the topic of “Tsunamis and Tide Pools: What sociology teaches us about Hallyu.”

Dr. Sam Richard’s YouTube video anticipating the success of K-pop giant BTS, where the well known scholars of Hallyu states “If you guys, don’t know who these guys are you are not going to compete in the world that is emerging” blew up and the speaker became more famous.

Continuing on, CEO Kim Hong-ki from “SpaceOddity” will give our his speak on the topic of “Landscape of K-pop,” followed by the presentation of “History being written by three of the female lead figures within the industry” from the leading figure of Cube Entertainments, Kim Eun-jung, representative of “Mr. Romance,” Park Jung-hyun, representative of “Serviceplan Korea,” Kang Ji-hyun, and more at the “2022 The 9thh World Congress for Hallyu.”

Co writer of “K-pop Soft power et Culture Globale,” Dr. Vincenzo Cicchelli, an Associate Professor at the University of Paris Cité and the researcher Dr. Sylvie Octobre from the department of studies, foresights, statistics and documentation, will talk under the topic of “When Global Hallyu Meets Global Youth: Reception, amaeurship and presumption” and look into the reputation of Hallyu throughout the world.

“Undeterred by the growing intensity of international competition with global platforms that accelerate and pace of content consumption and distribution, Korean culture is demonstrating a sustainable capacity on the merits of digital infrastructure.” adding “Rather than stopping short at merely celebrating or marveling at such feats, we must keep an open channel of communication to further analyze, reflect on, and study Hallyu as a phenomenon.” President of the World Association for Hallyu Studies, Moon Si-yeon put on emphasis throughout her welcoming speech.
