SEOUL, May 24 (Yonhap) – K-pop girl group LIGHTSUM has made a comeback by releasing its first mini album “Into The Light” on May 24.
It is the girl group’s first album in about 7 months since the second single “Light a Wish,” which was dropped in October, 2021.
LIGHTSUM is an 8-member girl group that consists of Sang-ah, Ju-hyeon, Hui-yeon, Na-young, Cho-won, Ji-an, Hina, and Yu-jeong.
The album contains a total of five songs, including the title song “ALIVE,” “i,” “GOOD NEWS,” “Q,” and “Bye Bye Love.”
Ju-hyeon said at a media showcase held on Tuesday, “When we first debuted, it was our first time performing on the stage so we were nervous and everything was unfamiliar” adding, “Now, I think each of our members shows more unique characteristics and they are better at expressing one’s emotions.”
Member Sang-ah stressed, “Our competitiveness is definitely the performances,” adding, “We make the choreography very sharp and clear despite the large number of members, so we are proud of showing the performances that people want to see again.”
LIGHTSUM chose (G)I-dle as the group’s role model in the music scene.
Cho-won mentioned, “I think (G)I-dle is so cool as they constantly challenge for new trends and concepts,” adding, “We would like to find our own color and show it to the public.”
The group, which debuted in June 2021, entered the iTunes K-pop top album charts in 7 countries including the US, Canada, and the UK, with its title song “VIVACE” from “Light a Wish.”
