SEOUL, October 16 (Yonhap) -- The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will be holding the "2022 Hanbok Culture Week" for a week starting from October 17 and will be holding hanbok culture events in 36 cities in 17 countries including Seoul on October 16. 

"Hanbok Culture Week" marks its 5th anniversary this year, and is a festival that presents various programs such as exhibitions, experiences and fashion shows to spread hanbok culture in everyday life in the third week of October every year.

Children's hanbok, traditional costumes, illustrations, and detailed models of hanbok will be displayed and hands-on events will be held at "HiKR Ground," a Korea Tourism Promotion Center in Cheonggyecheon, Seoul. 

At the "K-Pop Lounge" on the second floor, visitors will be able to wear hanbok and film K-pop contents, and at the "HiKR lounge" on the fifth floor, visitors will be able participate in the traditional knot bracelet and key chain making event through prior reservation.

On October 17, the opening day, the hanbok ambassador singer Song Ga-in will introduce the "Hanbok Culture Week" program live on the YouTube channel of the Hanbok Advancement Center. 


On October 21, certificates of appreciation for the promotion of hanbok culture and appreciation for the love of hanbok will be held on the forth floor of the Hiker Ground.

The "Hanbok Culture Achievement Award" is awarded to Cho Hyo-suk, a professor at Gachon University, the "Hanbok Person of the Year Award" is awarded to Hwang Seon-tae, CEO of Hanbok-moon, and the "New Hanbok Hanbok Person Award' is awarded to Hwang Yi-seul, CEO of Leesle. 

Thirteen people (organizations) who have put effort in promoting Hanbok such as Song Ga-in, OH MY GIRL, VIVIZ, Park Kyung-rim, designer Gino and The National Chorus of Korea will be getting the Certificate of Appreciation for loving Hanbok. 

On the same day, in the outdoor space on the first floor of the HiKR Ground, a "Hanbok Culture Week" commemorative fashion show and K-pop performances such as Dynamic Duo, Sol, and Hatfeld will be held.


During this year’s Hanbok Culture Week, eight local governments including Busan City, Asan City in Chungnam, Gokseong-gun in Jeollanam-do, Namwon/Iksan/Jeonju in Jeollabuk-do, Sangju-si in Gyeongsangbuk-do and Miryang-si in Gyeongsangnam-do will also be operating programs that combine hanbok and local culture.

In addition, fashion shows and exhibitions will be held in various overseas cities such as Seattle and Portland in the United States, Vancouver in Canada, Ankara in Turkey, and New Delhi in India.
