SEOUL, Jan. 17 (Yonhap) -- From romance dramas based on popular webtoons to fusion historical dramas set in Japanese colonial era.
Netflix has announced this year's new lineup on Tuesday.
Not only various genres, but also prominent actors such as Kim Hee-ae, Ko Hyun-jung, and Lee Byung-hun come to Netflix with original series and movies.
◇ The popular series that came back after a long wait...fusion historical dramas
First of all, the popular series that fans have been waiting for will return with follow-up parts and new seasons.
Part 2 of the revenge play 'The Glory' starring Song Hyekyo will be released in March. Yeon-jin played by Lim Ji-yeon, the main instigator of school violence, and other aggressors fall into the trap designed by Dong-eun played by Song Hyekyo one by one and walk the path of destruction.
Netflix's original series 'D.P.' about violence in the military will return to season 2 of the third quarter of this year. Following the last series, director Han Joon-hee will direct and major cast members Jung Haein, Koo Kyohwan, Kim Sung-kyun and Son Suk-gu will reunite. Ji Jinhee and Kim Ji-hyun newly joined.
"Sweet Home" Season 2 will be released at the end of this year. "Bloodhounds," which will be unveiled in the second quarter, depicts what happens when three young people who face private moneylenders to find their mother's shop taken away by illegal private loans are caught up in huge forces. Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi will appear.
"Black Knight," to be released in the second quarter, is an SF series set in 2071, where people cannot live without a respirator due to extreme air pollution. Kim Woo-bin, Song Seung-heon, Kang Yoo-seok and Esom play major roles in the rapidly desertified Korean Peninsula.
"Daily Dose of Sunshine," depicts various stories of patients Da-eun, played by Park Bo-young, a nurse who first starts working in the department of neuropsychiatry, meets in the psychiatric ward. "Doona!" starring Suzy and Yang Se-jong captures a fresh campus romance. It is expected to be released in the fourth quarter.
"Mask Girl,” expected to be released in the third quarter starring Ko Hyun-jung, "Queen of Drama," is also an original webtoon series. It tells the story of Kim Mo-mi, an office worker with an appearance complex, who is involved in an unintended incident while working as an Internet broadcasting BJ with a mask covering her face every night.
Kim Hee-ae will return in the second quarter as a 'Queenmaker'. She plays the role of Hwang Do-hee, a genius in image-making and who controls the strategic planning office of large company. In the drama, human rights lawyer Oh Kyung-sook played by Moon Sori will jump into the election to become the mayor of Seoul.
In the second half of the year, romantic series are also prepared.
“A Time Called You” is a remake version of “Someday or One Day,” the standard of Taiwanese youth dramas. Ahn Hyo-seop, Jeon Yeo-been, and Kang Hoon will appear.
Ahn Eun-jin and Yoo Ah-in work together in "Goodbye Earth," based on a novel by Japanese author Kotaro Isaka. 200 days before the collision between the Earth and the asteroid, the series will look at the world in chaos and people living the rest of the time ahead of the end.

Along with Kim Hyun-joo, Ryu Kyung-soo, Kang Soo-youn, who passed away in May last year, will appear.
"Stolen Identity," which will be released on the 17th of next month, is a thriller based on a Japanese novel of the same name.
