Mourinho fired from Tottenham, re-employed as AS Roma's manager in 15 days

SEOUL, May 4 (Yonhap) -- Jose Mourinho, who was fired as Tottenham Hotspur manager in the English Premier League in 18 months, will take office as manager of AS Roma, a renowned club in Serie A.

AS Roma announced on the 4th that they had signed Mourinho on a three-year contract until 30 June 2024.

Mourinho will lead Roma from the 2021-2022 season.

Roma also announced that current manager Paulo Fonseca is leaving the club after the season.

Roma is in seventh place with 55 points (16 wins, seven draws and 11 losses) with four games left in Serie A this season.

Mourinho, who was sacked from Tottenham on the 19th of last month, succeeded in re-employment in just 15 days.

It is the first time in 11 years that Mourinho has managed an Italian club since 2010.

He led Inter Milan in the 2009-2010 season to win Serie A, the UEFA Champions League and the Coppa Italia Cup, and became Real Madrid's head coach the next season.
