SEOUL, Sept. 25 (Yonhap) -- Foreign Minister Cho Hyun has met with Vietnam's Foreign Minister-designate Le Hoai Trung and discussed the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit and bilateral relations, Seoul's foreign ministry said Thursday.
At the talks, held on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, Cho expressed hope that Vietnamese leader Luong Cuong will visit South Korea for the APEC gathering next month and that the two countries will continue to work together to advance their strategic partnership.
Trung said that Vietnam attaches great importance to the bilateral relations with South Korea, pledging to make continued efforts to promote the ties in a way that benefits the peoples of the two countries.
Cho explained Seoul's peace efforts for the Korean Peninsula to Trung and asked for Vietnam's close cooperation and support in that regard.
