SEOUL, June 7 (Yonhap) -- A South Korean delegation, led by former Land Minister Won Hee-ryong, has visited El Salvador to attend the inauguration ceremony of the reelected President Nayib Bukele, Seoul's foreign ministry said Friday.

The delegation made a seven-day visit to the Central American nation starting May 30 as Bukele took office for a second term Saturday. Also among the delegation was Rep. Kang Min-kuk of the ruling People Power Party.

Attending the swearing-in ceremony, the delegation delivered to the government of El Salvador a letter from President Yoon Suk Yeol congratulating Bukele on his reelection and expressing hope for further development of partnership between South Korea and El Salvador.

The delegation also had a meeting with Felix Ulloa, El Salvador's vice president, the ministry said. The delegation expressed expectation for the two countries to expand cooperation in infrastructure construction, given South Korea's advanced technologies and know-how in the field, it said.

The delegation also paid a visit to a bridge and road construction site where work is under way by South Korean companies. They had a separate meeting with the Korean community in El Salvador to listen to their difficulties, the foreign ministry said.
