SEOUL, May 14 (Yonhap) -- K-pop boy group Seventeen's Japanese single has been certified Double Platinum, for achieving sales of over 500,000 album copies.

SEVENTEEN's third Japanese EP "Hitorijanai (Not Alone)" has been recognized as Double Platinum by The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), according to the boy group's agency, Pledis Entertainment.

SEVENTEEN set a double platinum record for the second time following the band's second single, "Fallin' Flower," released in May last year.

SEVENTEEN said, "We sincerely thank everyone who loved our song we made as a promise to reunite with Carat (SEVENTEEN's fan club). We will always humbly try our best to become a band that you can all be proud of."

The RIAJ awards the 'Gold Disc' based on the cumulative album sales every month. Albums are certified Gold for more than 100,000 copies sold, Platinum for more than 250,000, Double Platinum for more than 500,000, Triple Platinum for more than 750,000, and a Million with more than 1 million copies sold.

According to Pledis Entertainment, "Hitorijanai (Not Alone)", which was released on April 21st, alone has sold around 550,000 copies so far.

Earlier on, the album topped Japan's Oricon Daily Singles Chart for six consecutive days, and later topped the weekly singles chart.
