SEOUL, May 26 (Yonhap) -- The new BTS song "Butter" has topped both the weekly digital single and weekly streaming chart in Japan.
The upbeat summer song was recorded to be streamed 16,607,136 times in three days in the latest weekly streaming chart compiled by Oricon between May 17 and 23, according to Big Hit Music, the K-pop act's agency.
Big Hit Music also reported that the current number of streams assembled in the first week of the song's release was the highest in Oricon history.
BTS previously topped the same chart with "Dynamite" and "Film Out" and recorded more than 10 million streams for all three songs, including "Butter."
BTS is the only artist in Oricon history to achieve 10 million weekly streams with more than three songs.
The English-language single did not only break the weekly streaming chart record but also hit No.1 on Oricon's weekly digital singles ranking with 52,821 downloads.
This is the second time for the seven-piece act to top the weekly digital singles chart after its Japanese single "Film Out" hit No.1 in April.
"Butter" has maintained first place on the daily digital single rankings for three days from its first release.
The summer song is continuing to make a splash on international music charts as it totaled 20.9 million streams on Spotify, the world's biggest music streaming platform.
