CHUNGJU, July 5 (Yonhap) -- The cloud-shaped ginkgo trees, which have been planted along
the streets of downtown Chungju, are starting to draw attention.
The city has pruned 2,000 ginkgo trees from eight major roads
into a round cloud shape since 2019 to create a unique street atmosphere.
The stem is about five to six meters long, while the top of
the trees were cut in a circular shape to save the characteristics of the
gingko trees as much as possible.
"We have pruning the branches, which
used to cover the store signs, in a way that will revive the beauty of the city,"
said a city official on Monday. "We will continue to decorate the streets
with various trees to provide attractions for citizens and tourists."
