S. Korea marks Hangeul Day
Prime Minister Kim Min-seok addresses a ceremony in Seoul on Oct. 9, 2025, to celebrate the 579th anniversary of the invention of the Korean alphabet, called Hangeul. King Sejong, the fourth monarch of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), invented the Korean alphabet in the 15th century. (Yonhap)
