SEOUL, June 18 (Yonhap) -- Krafton Inc., the gaming giant behind the global smash hit "Player Unknown's Battlegrounds" (PUBG) announced on Friday that it will release its first short film "Ground Zero" on YouTube for free on the 26th.
The film, which will be based on "PUBG Universe," a series of background stories that make up the "Battleground" game, will star actor Ma Dong-seok.
Set in the 1983 Taego Hosan Prison, the story revolves around prisoners who fight with each other to seek the bounty from the main character, Ma Kang-jae, while the prison guards record the fight on CCTV.
"Since anyone can watch it for free through YouTube, we hope it will become a small pleasure for action movie fans as well as Battleground fans," Krafton said.
Ahead of its initial public offering (IPO), Krafton drew attention by comparing its corporate value to Disney, a global entertainment company, in a recently submitted securities declaration.
