SEOUL, May 20 (Yonhap) -- The 2021 Seoul Architecture Festival will be held both online on the website of the festival as well as offline at Nodeul Island, from September 8-20, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
This year, the selected theme is "On & Off," since people's daily lifestyle has transformed from offline to online.
Seo Hyun, a professor of architecture at Seoul National University, has been appointed to lead the 13th competition this year. Ahn Ki-hyun and Nam Sung-taek, who are both professors at Hanyang University, and Choi Jung-woo, director of Unite U.A, an architectural history office, have been assigned as professional directors to take charge of the major programs.
Starting with the opening ceremony, the program includes the Seoul Metropolitan Government Architecture Award ceremony and exhibition, the Seoul Architecture and Culture Forum, last year's Special Exhibition for Architecture Awards, and the University Student Architecture and Association (UAUS) exhibition.
The architectural contest will be held until July 16 and the "My Architecture Story" (Video, Picture, Essay, Photo) contest will be held until July 6.
Kim Seong-bo, head of the Seoul Housing and Architecture Division, said, "We would like to introduce the construction of the Corona era to citizens more actively and attract interest and participation with this Seoul Architecture and Culture Festival."
