SEOUL, May 22 (Yonhap) — The music video for the new song "Butter" by the group BTS exceeded 100 million views on YouTube about 21 hours after its release.

According to Big Hit Music on the 22nd, the music video for "Butter," released on YouTube at 1 p.m. the previous day, surpassed 100 million views at 9:56 a.m. on Saturday.

This new song beat BTS's mega-hit song "Dynamite" by about three hours, which hit 111.1 million views in 24 hours.

The music video for "Butter" exceeded 3.9 million simultaneous users immediately after its release, achieving the highest YouTube Premier music video viewing record ever. There were more than 3 million concurrent users, breaking the record for “Dynamite.”

The music video for "Butter," which exceeded 10 million views in 13 minutes, received explosive responses, surpassing 30 million views in two hours and 50 million views in six hours.

As the music video for "Interlude: Shadow" also recorded 100 million views at 10:40 p.m. the previous day, BTS has a total of 33 billion views music videos, the most among K-Pop singers.

“Butter” is not only a music video but also a popular song listened nationally and overseas.

It topped iTunes “Top Song” charts in 101 countries, including the U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany, and Australia, and also topped domestic music charts on music streaming services such as Melon, Genie, Flo, and Bugs.

It topped the Melon "24 Hits" chart at 9 a.m., less than a day after its release.

“Butter” beat Brave Girls's “Rollin,” which has been topping the charts since March, Justin Bieber's “Peaches,” Oh My Girl's “Dun Dun Dance,” IU's “Lilac” and “Celebrity,” which were ranked first within the pop music charts.

The "24 Hits" chart is known to be quite difficult to rank first within 24 hours because it aggregates usage on a 24-hour cumulative basis, not hourly.

“Butter” is the second English single released by BTS after “Dynamite,” and is categorized as a summer song within the dance pop genre.

The metaphorical message of melting someone softly like butter and captivate them is nicely included into the cheerful and exciting melody.

On the other hand, BTS will hold an online fan meeting "BTS 2021 MUSTER SOWOOZOO” for two days from June 13th to the 14th to mark the band’s eighth debut anniversary.

"MUSTER" is a fan meeting that BTS has held since 2014, and will be held again in two years since 2019.

Unlike the first day of the concert, Big Hit Music predicted that the second day would be a "world tour version" with a changed setlist.
