(Yoon Impeachment) Finance minister says to actively communicate with Nat'l Assembly for economic stability
SEOUL, Dec. 15 (Yonhap) -- Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok said Sunday he would actively communicate with the National Assembly to help calm financial markets and maintain economic stability after President Yoon Suk Yeol was impeached over his failed martial law bid.
Choi made the remarks during a meeting with economy-related ministers earlier in the day, a day after the National Assembly passed a motion to impeach Yoon.
"We will closely communicate with the National Assembly since we are at a very important time that could determine the course of our economy," he said.
Choi said the finance ministry will work to help the parliamentary passage of bills to support various industries, such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence, and announce a comprehensive economy roadmap for 2025 within this year.
The roadmap will include creating a pan-governmental task force to increase incentives for foreign investments in South Korea and measures to respond to trade uncertainties and strengthen the country's global competitiveness in chips, aviation and other industries, according to the finance ministry.
