SEOUL, May 18 (Yonhap) -- Singer Taemin, who has recently been working as both a solo artist as well as a meber of SHINee and SuperM, will part ways with his fans momentarily as he begins to serve the Korean military.

On the 18th, about two weeks before his enlistment, Taemin talked about his third mini-album, "Advice," saying, "I hope it comforts my fans during this time."

The new album, which includes five songs, highlights Taemin's transformation as an artist.

In particular, Taemin raps as if he is singing in his upcoming title track. The lyrics also talks about warning those who judge others with stereotypes and the song is sung in a grand R&B (Rhythm and Blues) sound.

"I've tried a lot of things I haven't done in the meantime," Taemin said. "It's a song where I can meet my unique character."

It was also eye-catching that he performed a duet song with songstress Tae-yeon, who works in the same agency as Taemin, for the first time since his debut.

The two sang the song "If I Could Tell You," which is about a subtle love affair between friends.

Taemin said, "The company first suggested that it would be good to sing with Taeyeon, and I wanted to work together with her as well. I thank Taeyeon for participating without any hesitation."

In addition, a refreshing pop dance song, "Light," which expresses a beloved lover as light is included in the album as well as "Strings," which features lyrics comparing Taemin to a stringed instrument, and "SAD KIDS," a song that follows the story of his previous third full-length prologue single "2 KIDS."

"I recommend the fourth track 'String.' Even I think I sang well in that song," Taemin said laughing.

Taemin, who debuted as the main dancer of the group SHINee in 2008 at age 15, drew attention for his dance skills and is still considered one of the famous idol members for dancing.

After some of SHINee members joined the army, Taemin expanded his global fandom by working in the SM project group, SuperM.

Last year, Taemin's third full-length solo album "Never Gonna Dance Again" topped the iTunes "Top Album" chart in more than 30 countries around the world, attracting 90,000 viewers with his recent online concert.

Asked about the album's performance, Taemin said, "I want to continue making albums I can be more satisfied in rather than trying to make one that pleases people."

Taemin will also appear on music programs from the 20th and communicate with his fans before joining the military.
