TXT highlights meaning of 'togetherness' in 4th studio album
By Shim Sun-ah
SEOUL, July 21 (Yonhap) -- K-pop boy group Tomorrow X Together (TXT) on Monday returned with an album that delivers a heartfelt message about the importance of "being together."
"The Star Chapter: Together," the band's fourth full-length album, serves as the final installment of a two-part series that began with its seventh EP, "The Star Chapter: Sanctuary," last November.
"This album emphasizes the meaning of 'togetherness,'" member Beomgyu said during a media showcase held in Seoul on Monday. "For anyone who works as part of a team, the word 'together' carries a lot of weight. We believe Tomorrow X Together is being built with the support of many people -- our members, fans, and staff -- alike. That's why the message of this album really resonated with us."
The album, set for release at 6 p.m., tells the story of boys from the previous album, who, after the "magical experience of meeting you," are changed and grow to save "you," according to the band.
"I think this album most genuinely reflects our team's identity. One of our greatest strengths is the consistency in our storytelling, and in that regard, this album feels like the perfect culmination," Yeonjun said.
It also marks the group's first full-length album in one year and nine months since "The Name Chapter: Freefall" in October 2023.
The album, featuring a total of eight tracks, is fronted by the lead track, "Beautiful Strangers."
The hip-hop track, built on a trap rhythm, is characterized by the striking contrast between a dreamy piano melody and powerful synthesizer sounds. Its sweet melody and explosive accompaniment blend seamlessly with TXT's overwhelming performance.
Yeonjun played a significant role in creating the choreography for the song.
"I participated in many parts, including the performance interlude and chorus," he shared. "When I first heard the song, I immediately thought, 'This would be cool if we did it this way,' so I organized a draft for about two days and sent it to the company. I was grateful that it was accepted more smoothly than I expected."
Hueningkai praised Yeonjun for effectively bring out the team's unique vibe through the dance moves.
The new album also features individual solo tracks from each member for the first time since their debut.
"As we're concluding a single narrative as a team, it was great to be able to showcase our individual colors and charms through solo songs," Soobin said.
Beomgyu added, "It was my first time filming a music video for a solo song, and since it was a new experience, it was fresh and fun."
The group, which enjoys a large global following, has recently attracted media attention due to its reported influence on the fictional boy group Saja Boys in Netflix's hit animated film "Kpop Demon Hunters." The characters in the film are said to have been inspired by TXT.
When asked about the connection between his band and the Saja Boys, Yeonjun chuckled and said, "'Kpop Demon Hunters' did so well, and I think it helped elevate K-pop's global status even further. I was also honored to hear that the character 'Romance' was modeled after me."
Regarding the group's upcoming contract renewal as it marks its seventh year in March next year, the members expressed a positive outlook.
"We're currently in discussions, and all five of us share the same opinion," said Soobin. "We're happiest when we're together as five, and we want to keep performing on stage for a long time. Although the discussions are still ongoing, I dare to hope that we'll be able to share good news with you soon."
