SEOUL, December 30 (Yonhap) -- Seoul National University Children's Hospital received 2 billion won in development funds from singer and actor Lee Seung-gi to improve the pediatric treatment environment, according to their announcement on December 29.

Lee Seung-gi visited the children's hospital, toured the hospital rooms, and donated money, sympathizing with the structural problem where the hospital is in deficit as they treat more children and the phenomenon of the sharp drop in doctors being pediatricians, according to the hospital.

Seoul National University Children's Hospital plans to use this donation to resolve overcrowding in hospital rooms and improve old-age facilities. In addition, the hospital is reviewing whether to change the name of several wards to "Lee Seung-gi Ward" in the future to honor the will of the donor.

"Healthy development of children and happy children will make a bright future of Korea," Lee Seung-gi said, adding, "I will hold my attention and support the hospital as it is limited to helping only with a one-time donation in order to help children develop healthy and happy."

Kim Yeon-soo, the head of the hospital, said, "We will put in effort for the donation to help the treatment of children, the hostile development of the industry, and to enhance the quality of the family."
