SEOUL, May 5 (Yonhap) -- South Korean big-name entertainment figures donated for underprivileged minors on Friday to commemorate the annual Children’s Day, non-profit organizations said Thursday.

Actress Park Bo-young delivered 100 million won (US$76,000) to a children’s hospital in Seoul, according to the Children and Future Foundation. Her donation will be used to improve art therapy sessions of the hospital’s development center, the foundation said.

Actor Lee Jong-suk and actress Kim Go-eun offered donations for treating young patients, each artist’s agency confirmed on the same day.

Lee donated 100 million won to the Children’s Hospital of Ansan Medical Center for children in need, and Kim donated 50 million won to the Seoul National University Children’s Hospital.

Boy band EXO’s Chanyeol also handed out 200 million won to the Snail of Love, an organization for children with hearing impairment. His donation will be used to fund the surgery and speech rehabilitation of two children.

Meanwhile, screenwriter Kim Eun-sook, who wrote the scenario of Netflix’s mega-hit series “The Glory,” as well as Yoon Ha-rim, CEO of Hwa&Dam Pictures, and singer Lee Seung-yoon, delivered Children’s Day presents, the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association said. More than 350 children in 10 institutions stationed at disaster-stricken areas received soccer balls, toys, clothing, and shoes, the organization added.
