BTS Jin Carries Olympic Torch in Paris Amid Cheers from Thousands of 'ARMY' Fans

SEOUL, July 15 (Yonhap) -- "I can't believe I'm seeing Jin in person!"

On the afternoon of the 14th, in front of the Louvre Museum in central Paris, thousands of fans gathered after hearing the news that BTS's eldest member Jin would be carrying the torch for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Despite the two-hour wait until Jin’s torch relay at 8:20 PM, the area was already bustling with excited fans holding handmade signs in Korean and waving small and large South Korean flags.

Sarah, 22, who arrived early in the morning with her two sisters, said, "I came early because I thought there would be a lot of fans," adding, "This is my first time seeing a BTS member in person." She expressed her excitement, stating, "I'm so happy that Jin has finished his military service and returned to us. It’s rare for him to come to France, so I'm thrilled to see him in person."

Amanda, 30, originally from Vietnam and currently working in London, also traveled to France the day before upon hearing the news of Jin’s torch relay. Holding a South Korean flag she brought herself, Amanda said, "I love all the BTS members, including Jin," and mentioned that three more friends were expected to join her.

Maëva, 34, who arrived at the Louvre at 10 AM, said, "BTS symbolizes peace and solidarity, so I think Jin being chosen as a torchbearer aligns with the Olympic values. It’s such an honor as a fan."
