SEOUL, Oct. 10 (Yonhap) -- BTS’ song “Spring Day” has been included in Rolling Stone’s list of the “250 Greatest Songs of the 21st Century So Far.”
The U.S. music magazine ranked “Spring Day” at No. 37 on its official website on Wednesday in U.S. time.
Rolling Stone described the track as “a signature song from one of the biggest pop groups of the 21st century,” adding that “its emotions of loss, recovery, and hope resonated transcendently, paving the way for BTS’ global rise.”
Released in 2017 as the title track of BTS’ repackage album “You Never Walk Alone,” “Spring Day” became the first song on the Korean music platform Melon to surpass 1 billion cumulative streams.
Other K-pop groups also made the list.
BLACKPINK’s 2018 hit “Ddu-du Ddu-du” ranked 142nd, with Rolling Stone noting it “best exemplified the K-pop explosion that swept the U.S. in the 2010s.” Girls’ Generation’s “Gee” placed 170th, while NewJeans’ “Hype Boy” came in at 206th.
Pop icons such as Britney Spears and Taylor Swift were among the top 10, with Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love” ranking third. The top spot went to rapper Missy Elliott’s “Get Ur Freak On.”
