SEOUL, Dec. 10 (Yonhap) -- The original Korean drama "Pachinko," produced by the U.S. online streaming platform Apple TV+, has been selected as the "Top 10 television Programs of the Year" by the U.S. Film Institute (AFI).

The AFI announced on Saturday a list of top 10 TV programs

Pachinko is an original series which Apple TV+ invested $1 billion and has been a sensation in the U.S., Japan, and South Korea since its release in this March.

The drama, based on a best-selling novel by Korean-American writer Lee Min-jin, depicts the story of a Korean-Japanese family who lived turbulent years from the 1910s to the 1980s.

Along with "Pachinko," "Abbot Elementary," "The Bear," "Better Call Saul," "Hacks," "Mo," "Reservation Dogs," "Severance," "SOmebody SOmewhere," and "The White Lotus." were listed as the top 10 TV programs.

"Avatar: The Way of Water," which returned 13 years after the prequel, and "Top Gun: Maverick" (Top Gun 2), a sequel released in 36 years were among the chosen 10.
