SEOUL, Dec. 30 (Yonhap) -- Yoo Jae-suk(49), the S. Korean MC, has won his 16th trophy from the Entertainment Awards

Following last year, Yoo Jae-suk was named the grand prize winner at the 2021 MBC Entertainment Awards, which was held at MBC Open Hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul, from the night of Dec. 29 to over 1 a.m. on Dec. 30.

Yoo Jae-suk has won his 8th grand prize at MBC, starting from 2006 to 2021. Yoo won the grand prize twice in 2005 and 2014 at KBS and six times from 2008 to 2019 at SBS.

Yoo Jae-suk, who won the grand prize for 2 years in a row through the program "Hangout with Yoo,” expressed his gratitude to the public, viewers, and the production staffs who participated in the program, saying, "I have received another undeserved honor."

He also mentioned, "Many people are having a hard time with COVID-19 and I feel more responsibilities as a comedian at times like this, “ adding "I will try to make them laugh with many colleagues as an entertainer in Korea until the day I cannot hold it any longer.”

Referring to the program director Kim Tae-ho, who is leaving MBC this year, Yoo Jae-seok has said, "I remember our past memories of working together in 'Infinite Challenge' and 'Hangout with Yoo,’” adding “I hope Kim could also succeed in the future as he chose the new path.”

Moreover, he felt sorry for Kim Cheol-min(real name Kim Cheol-soon), who passed away on Dec. 16 after battling terminal lung cancer.

Yoo Jae-suk has said, “The comedian Kim Cheol-min passed away few days ago,” adding “The person who had always tried to make people laugh on the street passed away and I hope he could give people happiness from up there as well.”

The nominees for the grand prize were Kim Gu-ra, Kim Seong-joo, Park Na-rae, Lee Young-ja, and Jun Hyun-moo, which made the award ceremony competitive.
