SEOUL April 23 (Yonhap) -- The upcoming SBS variety program "Whenever I Get a Chance" is set to premiere on April 23 at 10:20 PM local time, featuring popular entertainers Yoo Jae-suk and Yoo Yeon-seok as hosts.
Directed by Choi Bo-pil PD, who previously helmed the iconic SBS variety show "Running Man" featuring Yoo Jae-suk, "Whenever I Get a Chance" aims to bring luck and joy to viewers through everyday encounters during spare moments.
Speaking at a press conference held on April 22 at a café in Seoul's Mapo-gu Sangam-dong, Choi expressed confidence in the new program, stating, "I believe we have created a program that I am very confident in."
Choi PD, known for his collaboration with Yoo Jae-suk on "Running Man" for two years starting from 2020, emphasized that the decision to cast Yoo Jae-suk in the new show was not merely based on their existing friendship but on Yoo's genuine suitability for the program. He revealed, "I have proposed numerous offers to Yoo Jae-suk (after his departure from 'Running Man'), and this time, the proposal for 'Whenever I Get a Chance' was different."

Regarding the selection of Yoo Yeon-seok as co-host, Choi explained, "We were looking for someone with both public recognition and likability, and Yoo Yeon-seok was a natural choice, especially considering his active involvement in Yoo Jae-suk's YouTube channel, 'Excuse.'"
In "Whenever I Get a Chance," the hosts will interact with citizens on the streets, engaging in interviews and missions during short breaks in their schedules. Choi highlighted the spontaneity and authenticity of the show's format, stating, "The moments of interaction with citizens are captured continuously without breaks, offering a fresh chemistry that sets it apart from other programs."
The show will also feature various guest appearances, with actors Lee Kwang-soo, Jo Jung-suk, and Ahn Yu-jin among those confirmed.
Writer Chae Jin-ah, who attended the press conference, shared insights into the program's concept, stating, "We decided to plan the show with the idea of bringing joy and luck to people during their spare moments, as they often spend that time on their smartphones." She added, "Unlike typical talk shows that require longer commitments, 'Whenever I Get a Chance' offers quick and efficient entertainment."
