GOYANG, South Korea, Sept. 4 (Yonhap) -- The city of Goyang, just northwest of Seoul, said Thursday it will host the "2025 Goyang Lake Art Festival" from Sept. 26 to 28 at Ilsan Lake Park and Ilsan Cultural Square.

This year’s festival, held under the theme "Art Takes Flight on the Streets," will feature about 150 performances by some 50 groups.

The opening piece, "Beyond the Dream," is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 27. Incorporating fireworks and lotus effects, the large-scale performance will be staged simultaneously at two venues — Hanul Square and the Theme Square — to allow spectators to view it from across the festival grounds.

Among the highlights will be a 1,200-drone light show combined with fireworks, set to illuminate the sky over Ilsan Lake Park at 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 and 28.

The program also includes a parade titled "The Boisterous Troupe," featuring giant marionettes, balloons and fairy-tale characters, along with street performances ranging from circus and magic to mime and aerial acts. Visitors can also take part in interactive art experiences at "Kkomjirak Village," "Circus Village" and "Geppetto House."

Singer Park Jung-hyun will headline the closing performance at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 28 at Hanul Square.

Last year’s festival drew an estimated 460,000 spectators, according to organizers.
