SEOUL, August 2 (Yonhap) --“This album has ZICO in the raw.”
Singer ZICO returned after 2 years since “RANDOM BOX” in Sep. 2020.
He said, “Songs are closer to the old styles of ZICO as I made music by myself and listened to it on my own.”
Zico expressed his feelings about returning as a “Freak” after two years at a media conference for his fourth mini album “Grown Ass Kid.”
He said he thought a lot about himself for the past two years.
He said, “I erased all the data that were piled up inside me, and I can now show new side of me,” adding, “I feel very refreshed and am in a good condition to make a music.”
The singer talked about the album saying, “I put my soul into this album, and I hope my song be added to many people’s play lists and be the happiness of everyday lives.”
His new album “Gross Ass Kid” consists of five songs, including the tile song “Freak.”
ZICO said “I thought if not now, then when can I show this side of me,” adding, “This is the first and last time to show rough side of me (to fans),” regarding the title song “Freak.”
ZICO planned to start his come back activities with the release of the album, July 27.
But he tested positive for COVID-19 on July 25, 2 days before the release of the album. He unfortunately released the album first and canceled all the schedules.
He said, “I was sad to receive such news just right before the come back,” adding, “There were many contents ready to be published in time for the release of the album, but it was a pity that they were not shown on time."
He also gave hints about the new boy group of KOZ Entertainment whom he has been preparing.
He said, “It is difficult to say for sure about how much completed it is,” adding. “But we are preparing to launch them before next year.”
ZICO was confident to come back after two years and said “I should be the main artist to represent the word ‘Heung’ (meaning ‘fun’ in Korean).”
